How we work

You can come to us
before everything is agreed.

You may have identified a supplier but still need to work out the payment terms. Or you may have a contract in place and need help coordinating settlement. Either way, the conversation starts with what you are trying to achieve.

One person stays with your transaction from the first call to the last payment, and knows its background without being briefed again.

  1. 01First conversation

A city spread out beneath a mountain range

What are you trying to do?

Before anything else we want the shape of it: the goods or the payment, the parties, the markets, and what has already been agreed. If what you need is outside what we can arrange, you will hear that in the first conversation rather than the fourth.

  2. 02Scope

Office towers seen from street level

What we would be responsible for.

We set out which parts we would handle, which stay with you, and which belong to a regulated provider. That includes what we would need from you, what it would cost and the realistic sequence. It is written down before work starts.

  3. 03Verification

    A carrier crossing open sea

Knowing who we are working with.

Company information, the people behind it and the background to the transaction are reviewed before anything is arranged. What is asked for depends on the service and the provider involved; it is explained rather than simply demanded.

  4. 04Coordination

    Someone holding the parts together.

Suppliers, inspectors, carriers, banks and providers each have their own pace and their own paperwork. Your point of contact keeps them aligned to the same transaction, and tells you what is outstanding before you have to ask.

  5. 05Close

    Finished, and documented.

The transaction closes when what was agreed has been done and the funds have moved accordingly. The record of terms, documents and approvals stays available to you.

Who is responsible for what.

You

The commercial decision, the information about your business and the counterparty, and the final instruction. Nothing is sent or signed on your behalf without it.

HAN & WOLF

Structuring the transaction, sourcing or coordinating the goods, preparing documentation, arranging the settlement route and following it through to the end.

The providers

Banks, escrow and conversion providers, inspectors and carriers each carry out their own part under their own terms and supervision. We name them rather than stand in front of them.

Not every transaction needs every step. A payment between two known parties is a shorter path than a first shipment with inspection and staged release, and the process is set for the case in hand rather than applied for its own sake.

The people
you deal with.

Transactions like these are carried by individuals, not departments. You will know who is working on yours, how to reach them and what they are responsible for.

Start with a conversation.

Tell us where you are: an idea, a supplier, a contract, or a payment that has stalled. We will tell you what we can do and what it would involve.
